How to insert any type of barcode onto your production documents?
With the barcode option in MAPPING Suite
How it works
MAPPING/MAPDRAW supports the vast majority of barcodes on the market and
generates 1D and 2D barcodes natively on any production server (system i, UNIX / Linux, Windows) and in any format:
PDF or Laser, Thermal and Impact
printers.
1D BARCODES SUPPORTED IN MAPPING SUITE
EAN 8 (UPC)
EAN 8 bar codes identify items or logistical units in a unique way.
EAN 13 (UPC)
EAN 13 bar codes identify items or logistical units in a unique way.
Code 39
CODE 39 is used in the automotive (GALIA) and pharmaceutical industries.
2/5 Interleaved
Code 2/5 Interleaved is used in the retail industry.
2/5 Industrial
Code 2/5 Industrial is used in the retail industry.
CODE 128
Code 128 is a high-density alphanumeric barcode that has
many different uses. Numerical encoding (Set C) Alphanumerical (Set A or B) or
Optimized (Set B and C). Complies with the mail tracking standard used
by the French Postal Service "La Poste" (Express delivery, registered
mail).
EAN 128 (UCC)
EAN 128 (UCC) is used to identify parcels (pallets, crates). Numerical
encoding (Set C) Alphanumerical (Set A or B) or Optimized (Set B and C).
Support for AI (Application Identifier) and FNC1 characters (field separator).
POSTNET
POSTNET is used by the US Postal Service.
PLANET
PLANET is used by the US Postal Service.
MSI
The MSI barcode is used mainly used in stock control, stock container and shelf marking in warehousing environments. A typical MSI barcodes has two control keys calculated using modulo 10 or modulo 11 and encodes numerical values of unspecified size.
|
 |
MAPDRAW allows you to encode your barcodes using a modulo 10 or 11 control key, two modulo 10, or one modulo 11 followed by a modulo 10 key. Supported character fonts include: BCMSI.ttf w/o label and BCMSIL.ttf with label.
UPC-A
UPC-A is a American equivalent to EAN13 where the first digit is a 0, and is used primarily to identify items in a store. UPC-A has 11 digits: 1 Number System, 5 digits for the Manufacturing Code and 5 other digits for the Product Code. A 12th digit is calculated based on the 11 others for control. The supported font is BCUPCA.ttf
|
 |
UPC-E
The UPC-E barcode is a shorter version of UPC-A. In UPC-E, superfluous zeros have been removed to produce a 6-digit barcode instead of 10 for UPC-A (Manufacturing and Product Code). With the Number System and control digit, a typical UPC-E barcode therefore has 8 digits. MAPDRAW can encode UPC-A (11 digits) into UPC-E with 6, 7 or 8 digits. The supported font is BCUPCE.ttf .

USPS : Intelligent Mail Barcode
Intelligent Mail Barcode (also called 4-State barcode) is a 65-bar code used by the US Postal Service.
Data is encoded in two parts:
The Tracking code includes:
- a 2-digit Barcode identifier (between 0 and 4)
- a 3-digit Service Type identifier
- a 6 or 9-digit Mailer identifier
- and a 9-digit Serial identifierif the Mailer ID has 6 digits, or 6 digits if the Mailer ID has 9
The Routing Code (optional) has only got one field:
- The Delivery Point ZIP Code can be empty or have 5, 9 or 11 digits
That is 31 digits maximum or 20 minimum if there is no Routing Code.
In MAPDRAW, the barcode field must include the Tracking Code followed directly by the Routing Code, without any blank or other character (you can use Memory zones to retrieve both from the spool file). Supported font is BCUSPostal.ttf

 |
USPS (United States Postal Service) is the other name of the Intelligent Mail Barcode
It is the new barcode used by the US Postal Service as a replacement for Planet and Postnet. Supporting this new legal requirement is therefore critical to MAPPING's business in the US.

LES CODES BARRES 2D GERES PAR MAPPING
PDF 417
The PDF 417 barcode complies with the international regulatory requirement ISO/IEC 15438. Up to 2700 numeric characters can be encoded.
Three types of data encoding methods are supported: alphanumeric, numeric and bytes).
|
 |
The Automatic mode lets selects the best compression rate and allows you to change encoding methods while encoding is underway.
There is also an 8-level error detection/correction mode. In automatic mode, the level is selected based on the number of characters to be encoded.
QR CODE
QR CODE complies with the international standard ISO/IEC 18004. The advantage of using QR CODE is that it makes it
possible to encode a large number of characters (up to 7736 in numeric mode). It is
widely used in Japan by different industries and also on mobile phones.
There are four types of encoding schemes (alphanumeric, numeric, bytes, Kanji) that offer various compression rates. By default, we use an automatic mode that selects the best encoding format according to the best possible compression rate. The automatic mode also allows switching from one type of encoding to the other during processing.
|
 |
The program adds error detection/correction codes to the data. The codes make it possible to resist damages and prevent any loss of data. There are four levels of error correction/detection.
FLASHCODE
Digital bar code used by Orange to enable seamless access to WAP or Web sites or any other online service in the range of mobile phone services. One simply needs to scan the bar code in a magazine, newspaper, notice board or a screen and the mobile phone will connect to the requested service automatically after authentication.
|
 |
DATAMATRIX
DATA MATRIX complies with the international standard ISO/IEC 16022 and allows encoding up to 2335 characters.
Several types of encoding are supported (ASCII, C40, Text, and Base 256). The default mode is the automatic mode that allows optimizing the encoding and switching between modes based on what data is being encoded.
Error detection/correction codes are also included to repair any damage made to the bar codes.

UPS MAXICODE
This type of barcode was developed by UPS – United
Parcel Service – according to the ISO 16023-2000 standard. Unlike other 2D
barcodes, it has a fixed size that allows encoding a limited number of
characters. The maximum size is 93 alphanumeric characters or 138 numeric
characters. The size is for information only depending on the pattern used.
|
 |
This barcode supports two encoding methods:
- The first only encodes a character string that includes data based on a classic encoding scheme and a standard error detection/correction system.
- In addition to the data string, the second method encodes three other fields stored in three Memory zones in MAPDRAW. The three
fields are: country – 3 numbers according to the ISO 3166 standard (called
map_countr), zip code – 6 characters (map_zipcod) and a kind of services – 3
characters (map_servic). Unlike the classic correction mode used in data
strings, the three fields include an extended error detection/correction scheme.
