How to archive documents produced with MAPPING in a third-party archiving system?

THE INDEXING OPTION WITH MAPOUT

Definition

Generate PDF files named dynamically and create an index file that will be used by the third-party archiving system to process the documents. Requires the MAPPING license and the PDF option.

How it works

The indexing option makes it possible to archive documents produced with MAPPING into an existing archiving system.

To do this, MAPPING outputs PDF files and associates files that contain the archiving indexes in TXT format.

With this option, the documents produced on Unix, Linux, iSeries/AS400 or Windows platforms can be edited to suit the archive system.

Ease of use

Using a single MAPPING command, print data streams and archive files (IBM Content Manager©, Open Text©…) are produced at the same time.

The configuration file is used to specify which data will be used as archiving criteria. This is where the file and directory names that will be created are specified. Dynamic names are also supported based on the value of the different criteria.

  • All the functionality in the composition tool MAPDRAW is inherited.
  • Archives are generated directly on the output server (Windows, mainframe, Unix, Linux, system i).
  • Support for all languages: Unicode, code pages, DBCS.
  • Unlimited number of indexing criteria.
