How to archive documents generated with MAPPING in a third-party archiving system?

THE INDEXING OPTION IN MAPOUT

Definition

This will generate PDF files with dynamic names and create an index file that will allow the third-party archiving system to handle the documents. Requires the MAPPING license and PDF option.

General principle

The indexing option makes it possible to archive documents generated with MAPPING in your own archiving solution.

To do that, MAPPING will produce files in PDF format and associate the files that contain the archiving indexes in TXT format.

With this option, you can transform documents coming from Unix, Linux, iSeries/AS400 or Windows platforms and adapt them to your archiving system.

Ease of use

Using a single MAPPING command, the user can generate print streams as well as files that will be handled by the existing archiving solution simply and smoothly e.g. IBM Content Manager©, Open Text©...

A configuration file is used to specify which data will be retained as archiving criteria. The names of the files and directories that will be created can also be specified dynamically i.e. based on the values of the different criteria.

  • All the functionality in the composition tool MAPDRAW is inherited.
  • Archives are generated directly on the output server (Windows, mainframe, Unix, Linux, system i).
  • Support for all languages: Unicode, code pages, DBCS.
  • Unlimited number of indexing criteria.
